Sylvan Beach has just changed its name to Taharka and isn’t just delicious ice cream but an entrepreneurial non-profit organization that "utilizes a holistic approach in serving disadvantaged young adults between the ages of 18-22." The major components include: housing, job training employment, career opportunities, counseling, academic instruction and life skills training. " The foundation and its yummy ice cream has two convenient locations one in historic Mt. Vernon next to Ok Natural Foods and in Mt. Washington next to Whole Foods Market.
